Why This Moment Matters
The work isn't slowing down. Neither are we.
Local governments are on the front lines of the climate crisis, and right now, that work is harder than ever. Federal funding is uncertain. Municipal budgets are tight. The communities that need climate solutions most are often the least resourced to build them.
That's exactly why this gathering matters.
USDN brings together the sustainability directors, policy leads, planners, and public works officials who are actually making decisions in cities, counties, and towns across North America. They share what's working, work through what isn't, and leave with the relationships and tools they need to keep moving. Since 2009, USDN has convened more than 5,300 practitioners across the U.S. and Canada. This isn't a conference circuit. It's a working network, and the Annual Meeting is where it comes alive.
The 2027 gathering in Tempe is the largest and most ambitious Annual Meeting USDN has ever hosted: 600+ attendees, a four-day program, and a public stage for the people doing this work every single day.
The programming is shaped by the real challenges, priorities, and opportunities local government sustainability practitioners are navigating every day, and built around what members actually asked for. Delivered through peer-led sessions, attendees gain new skills, generate new ideas, and explore what is and isn't working in communities like theirs. Participants walk away with practical tools and meaningful relationships that strengthen their work back home, all in a city that has become a model for bold, community-driven climate action.
The Network Behind the Numbers
These aren't just numbers. They represent the practitioners shaping climate budgets, infrastructure decisions, and community resilience plans in real places, right now.
What Your Sponsorship Does
Sponsoring the USDN Annual Meeting is more than a logo placement. It's a seat at the table where some of the most consequential local climate decisions get shaped, and your support directly funds the infrastructure that makes this gathering possible, including travel scholarships for sustainability leaders from under-resourced communities who couldn't otherwise attend.
Connect with decision-makers. Meet sustainability directors, policy leads, planners, and public works officials from across North America, all in one place.
Demonstrate your commitment. Show up where the work actually happens, alongside the people doing it.
Share your expertise. Co-lead breakout sessions, headline plenaries, and engage directly with practitioners looking for tools and partners.
Extend your reach. Get recognized across digital channels, printed materials, the event app, and on-site signage throughout the four-day program.
Shape the conversation. Higher-tier sponsors have the opportunity to co-develop programming, sponsor content tracks, and host private convenings with USDN members.

Sponsorship Tiers at a Glance

We also offer a la carte opportunities including snack break sponsorships, Wi-Fi and mobile app naming rights, networking lunch sponsorships, immersive tour co-sponsorship, and travel scholarships to support equitable participation. A tiered approach doesn't work for everyone, so if none of these feel like the right fit, we'd love to build something custom with you.
