Johanna Partin, Director
Johanna Partin is Director of the Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance. Prior to founding CNCA in January 2015, Johanna served as North America Regional Director for the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. Prior to that, Johanna served as Senior Policy Advisor on Environment to San Francisco Mayors Gavin Newsom and Ed Lee, where she developed and implemented policy on sustainable energy, climate, transportation, green building, and other programs. She also served on the Board of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and is a Faculty Member for the Climate Leadership Academy. She has a Master’s degree in Energy & Environmental Policy from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara.

Michael Shank, Communications Director
Michael Shank, Ph.D., is Communications Director for CNCA where he provides cities with high-quality communications support. Previously, Michael served as Head of Communications for the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, where he handled communications for Jeffrey Sachs and SDSN’s work on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Michael's recent positions include serving as Director of Media Strategy at Climate Nexus, Associate Director for Legislative Affairs at the Friends Committee on National Legislation, and US Congressman Michael Honda’s Senior Policy Advisor and Communications Director. Michael’s Ph.D. from George Mason University is on Climate Conflict, and he now teaches graduate courses at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs on Sustainable Development, Climate and Security, and Power and Politics. 

Trude Rauken, Strategic Initiatives Director
Trude Rauken is Strategic Programs Director for CNCA, where she leads the implementation of key Alliance strategies and programs. Prior to joining CNCA staff in January 2018, Trude served as Senior Adviser in the Department of Environment and Transportation for the City of Oslo, where her main responsibilities included coordinating the City’s international climate work. Prior to joining the City of Oslo, Trude worked as a senior researcher at the world leading climate research institute, the CICERO Center for International Climate and Environmental Research – Oslo. Her research focused mainly on the local level government’s role and capacity in solving challenges coming from climate change. Her case studies are found mainly in Norway, India and Nepal. Trude says that “the world is local” whenever she gets the chance. Before starting her work in climate, she worked in the Norwegian music industry. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Economy from BI Norwegian School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from University of Oregon.

Peyton Siler Jones, Communications and Member Services
Peyton Siler Jones joined CNCA in November 2016. In her current role, she coordinates communications and member services, providing support for information exchange among members. Prior work experience includes serving as Political Associate for Cultivating Resilience and as Program Associate for the Intentional Endowments Network. Peyton holds a B.A. in Environmental Policy and currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina. Peyton works part-time for CNCA and part-time for USDN. 

Erik Amundson, Administrative Assistant
Erik Amundson joined USDN in January 2017. Erik plays a crucial role in supporting information exchange among members by delivering member services and providing support to other staff. Prior work experience includes Management of the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire Student Office of Sustainability, where he oversaw an array of sustainability infrastructure programs. Erik received his B.A. in Business Administration in May 2016 and is currently based out of the Milwaukee, WI area.
